After spending 21 years working for Dow Chemical, largely in Research and Development, Rick decided to pursue his passion of working directly with individuals; he has spent the last 17 years as a financial professional.
Rick's analytical skills, as well as his diverse background, which includes more than 25 years working part time as a local evangelist, give him a unique approach to the financial industry. Based on his years in the chemical industry, Rick has a great appreciation for a team approach, a structure that is relatively unique among financial advisors. He has developed a team in the Oak Financial Group where he utilizes his own knowledge and experience in the financial industry, as well as leverages the assets of his team to create a dynamic approach to investing.
Rick focuses on comprehensive estate planning and oversees the investment process of the Oak Financial Group. His counsel reaches far beyond just the numbers and as the “quarterback” of the Oak Financial team, his infectious optimism and friendly demeanor create a truly unique experience for clients.

Shelby joined The Oak after spending 10 years working in the chemical and paper industry. He spent his first years with the company taking on new roles and challenges within the business, learning more about the industry.
His current role is as an analyst for mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and fee-based portfolios. Shelby also focuses on college planning for the team, and assists in the research of alternative investments such as REIT's, Oil and Gas Limited Partnerships, and Managed Futures.
He strives to have a working knowledge of all products available in the marketplace.

Jeremy works to manage our client's investment risk. There are certain risks that are especially challenging when planning for retirement, such as market volatility and one's longevity.

While many firms help grow money, we work to provide comprehensive planning which takes into account both accumulation and distribution of assets. Jeremy contributes to the team by employing specific strategies to help protect against volatility and longevity, as well as other risks that can be detrimental if not properly addressed. Jeremy focuses on annuities and managed futures for the Oak Financial Group.

Ted Ginsberg, a native Texan, earned his Finance degree from Texas A&M and paid for it in the trenches of the Aggie defensive line. He learned to fight through adversity. It was perfect training for a lifetime. Ted entered the financial world as an agent in 1974 with Statewide Insurance Agency, the family business. He committed himself in immersion insurance courses to gain expert insight in: Property and Casualty, Health, Life Insurance, Surety, Disability, and Prepaid Legal. In 1992 Ted wanted to share his knowledge with other agents, and moved from Tyler to Houston as Regional Manager for Time Insurance. He worked to prepare his agents for complex Health and Life Insurance situations. By 1995 his scope grew to include Variable Products, Retirement Plans, Investment Products, and 401k Planning. Through meetings with clients, insurance agents, CPAs, and attorneys, Ted’s experience led towards solutions in Business Structure, Estate Planning, and Executive Benefits. In 2008 Ted retired from Woodbury as Regional Vice President to work more directly with the business owner. He uses his extensive years of unique experience to grant his clients the reassurance and guidance they deserve. Together, we make informed decisions to seek the most favorable annual results possible. Ted aims to bring top-notch planning to the Business Owner, by looking at the entire financial picture.

Nolan graduated with honors from Texas A&M’s Honors Business Program in 2011. He earned a unique degree that provides a solid foundation for Accounting, Marketing, and Finance. He then worked as a Comptroller in a small business before joining the team at Oak Financial. The group servicing of alternative investments, business insurance, and asset transfer are invaluable to his growth as a professional. This approach exposes Nolan to complicated cases in the business world. Nolan also performs as the compliance officer for the group.  He enjoys working with small businesses, and looks forward to learning more innovative ways to help business owners meet their goals.

James Rodgers

James is a native Texan born in the south Texas town of Refugio. The son of a minister, he grew up in Refugio, Freeport, McAllen, and San Antonio, Texas, and Oppolousas, LA. After graduating from college, James worked for 19 successful years at the Dow Chemical Company in various research and engineering departments. He resigned from Dow to pursue his passion, a career as a financial adviser, in 1997.

Having worked for three other national financial services firms during his career, James is keenly aware of the value of an independent broker dealer firm such as SagePoint Financial, Inc. gives him. Working with an independent broker dealer allows him to focus on each client's financial goals and use the products and services most suited for each client without the pressure to promote a particular product or be under pressure to meet a sales quota. Additionally, James' diverse background and experience gives him a broad depth of understanding regarding the needs and the concerns of clients.

James is securities registered and insurance licensed in several states and is an Investment Adviser Representative of SagePoint Financial, Inc., member FINRA/SIPC, a Registered Investment Adviser. He has a Masters of Science degree in Business from Houston Baptist University and teaches income planning and retirement planning classes at selected colleges. He is a member of the Financial Planners Association and the Financial Services Institute. James has offices in Angleton and Tyler, Texas.

James and Brenda Rodgers live outside of Lake Jackson, Texas. James enjoys outings on the golf course, the great outdoors, and he is very involved with community and church activities. James also enjoys gardening and be sure to ask him about his fruit trees. If you need a speaker for your club, your business, or your organization call James as he enjoys public speaking and meeting people. James and Brenda have two children, Cara and James (J.R.).

Greg Harris grew up in Brazoria County, attended Columbia High school and earned his degree from Texas A&M University in 1983. Upon graduation, Greg spent the following 29 years of his professional career as an Oil & Gas Key Accounts Manager, successfully servicing large corporate accounts by matching client interests and needs with company offered products and services.

As a long-time investor at The Oak Financial Group and possessing a passion for the securities markets in general, Greg soon realized that his past business experiences would also serve him well in the financial world. As a licensed financial representative and through a customer first, needs based approach, Greg assists his clients in meeting their financial objectives by leveraging the investment knowledge, experience, products and services offered by the team at The Oak Financial Group.


Andy Couch

With over 35 years as a manager and advisor in the financial services industry, Andy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the investing process for his clientele and prospective clients. A native Houstonian, Andy is both a graduate of Bellaire High School, and the University of Houston. After a successful three year tour as a signal officer in the Federal Republic of Germany, Andy has served his clientele of individuals, families and small business for more than three decades.

With registrations encompassing general securities, investment advisor representation and insurance, Andy has sought to meet the financial needs of a wide array of clientele within the independent broker/dealer channel. As a new member of The Oak Financial Group, Andy looks forward to providing indispensable service to both his current and future clients.

Andy and his wife Jane have three children and five grandchildren and reside on their 26 acre ranch outside of Bellville, Texas. He is currently the Finance Chairman of his local church and has enjoyed the highest offices of several service organizations to include the President of the Bellville Lions Club.
